Diamond Expertise

Natural diamonds, understood properly

What we look for, how we grade it, and why buying through Choice Diamonds is different — for private clients and the jewellery trade alike.

Diamond education

The 4Cs

Every polished diamond we grade is assessed against these four pillars — the internationally recognised standard for describing a diamond's quality.

01 — Cut

Precision of the facets

How well a stone is proportioned and finished — the single biggest factor in a diamond's brilliance.

02 — Colour

From colourless to fancy

Graded on a scale from colourless through to warmer tones, or rare fancy colours.

03 — Clarity

Internal characteristics

The presence, size and position of natural inclusions, assessed under magnification.

04 — Carat

Weight, not size alone

A diamond's weight — one factor among several that determine its overall value.

Fancy colour & fancy shape diamonds

Alongside classic white diamonds, we work closely with fancy colour stones — yellows, champagnes and browns among them — as well as fancy shapes cut to superior ratios and makes.

These are specialist stones, and we treat them as such: each one graded, understood, and matched to the right hands.

GIA-certified, every time

Every stone we handle is assessed with reference to internationally recognised grading standards, including GIA reporting — giving buyers and jewellers alike the confidence of a properly documented stone.

Investment-quality stones

Sourcing rare, exceptional diamonds

Investment-quality diamonds come down to a combination of exceptional cut, colour and clarity — often in fancy colour or larger stones, where genuine rarity starts to matter as much as the 4Cs on paper.

Finding those stones takes a global network built over decades, not a catalogue. We're happy to talk you through what to actually look for.

Supplying jewellers & manufacturers

Top-made diamonds, cut to EX EX EX

We supply the jewellery trade throughout South Africa with excellent-cut, excellent-polish, excellent-symmetry (EX EX EX) diamonds, and fancy shape diamonds of superior ratios and makes.

For jewellers, that means consistent quality, honest grading, and a supplier who doesn't cut corners on the stones that carry their name.
